Ghanaians are feeling the brunt of economic hardships as prices of good soar and the cedi also depreciates to the United States dollar. Since the year began there were warnings that a time like this will come but government and her communicators brushed this aside and insisted that these were the words of naysayers.
Well, as the country struggles with her finances, calls are being made for the Ken Ofori Atta, the Finance Minister to lay down his tools for someone else to take charge.
Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin Central and aspiring NPP flagbearer has reacted to the economic hardship that the country is going through. Speaking on Net2’s National Agenda today, Tuesday, October 25, 2022, Kennedy Agyapong empathized and said he can feel the torture that most Ghanaians are going through. According to Kennedy Agyapong, the President needs to act to at least put confidence in Ghanaians.
The Assin Central law maker insisted that President Akufo-Addo should have by now addressed the nation to allay the fears of Ghanaians. He explained that just a simple address to Ghanaians to sympathize with them won’t solve the problem but it will be a consolation to Ghanaians that their leader is doing something about the problem at hand. He called on the president to stop every other thing and do the needful by addressing Ghanaians regarding the economic situation at hand.
Kenny Agyapong is not the first to make such a call. Many Civil Society Organizations as well as economic experts have called on President Akufo-Addo to speak to the nation. Many say addressing the nation is better than his tours he is taking across the country. The president has however failed to heed to these calls. He has even gone ahead to repose confidence in his ministers and sent a clear message to his critics that they will all be disgraced one by one.
